Recipe: No-Fry Mozarella Sticks

There’s something so warm & comforting about melted cheese, and Mozzarella sticks are my go-to treat in an Italian restaurant. This homemade version gives that same melted cheese deliciousness but without the prep time & frying.

Cheesestrings are ideal for this as they are already the right shape, and an added bonus being as they are kids snacks they are relatively nutritious (for cheese!). My top tip is to return the Cheesestrings to the fridge once breaded for about an hour as they are much less likely to ooze out of the breadcrumb coating that way.

Read on for recipe....

1.       Open each Cheesestring and cut in half.
2.       Beat one egg and sprinkle the packet breadcrumbs into a layer on a plate.
3.       One by one, dunk a Cheesestring half into the egg wash then immediately roll in the breadcrumbs.
4.       Place on a baking tray then refrigerate
5.       Cook on a high heat (around 200C) for 6-8 minutes until the breadcrumbs are brown and the cheese is melted.
