Weekend DIY: Bead Bangle

I live with my boyfriend and he wears suits to work every day (one of my worst nightmares for myself, but he looks great) and due to this he racks up a hefty dry cleaning bill every week (…another worst nightmare). However, a huge upside to the situation is- whenever items come back from the dry cleaners they have paper tags attached to them with little brass safety pins, and over the course of a few months there is now a little box in our bedroom with about 100 mini safety pins in.

They have been catching my eye for a few weeks now and I figured there must be something I can DIY with them. So with the help of some beads and elastic I made this bracelet. I used a primary colours repeat pattern for a bold design, and the fact that it’s made out of pins gives it such a unique look.

Read on for step by step.

How to DIY…

1.       You need about 100 small safety pins, a wrist length of elastic and some tiny beads in as many colours as you fancy. The beads shouldn’t set you back more than £1, most craft shops & haberdashers sell small pots for around 50p
2.       Open the safety pin and load the pointy stem with beads then re-fasten
3.       Once all pins are beaded, thread onto the length of elastic, alternating head to tail.
4.       Stitch the ends of elastic together so it forms a loop. Et Voila, ready to rock!
